When speaking about unemployment, Czech Republic in March 2016 was on the top of the list with the lowest unemployment in the whole European Union for the first time since it became an independent country in 1993. The actual unemployment rate is 4.1% with Germany close behind.Employment is highest among people aged 30-49 years (87.3%), followed by 50-64 year olds (67.7%). Finally, employment for people aged 15-29 years is the lowest at just 47.9 percent.
The Czech labour market has the one of the best levels of education in the EU. At least secondary education has been attained by 91.6% of the population, which, once again, was the highest of all EU countries. Morever, 19.9% of the population has tertiary education; quite low when compared to a country like Luxembourg with more than 43%.
